"THIRSTY FOR CLEAN WATER"? We help you to test efficiently, sensitively and with the utmost precision.

Founded in Darmstadt, Germany in 1668, Merck is the world’s oldest chemical and pharmaceutical company. Merck’s portfolio of analytical products and services recently saw a significant expansion by the acquisition of the Sigma-Aldrich company and now includes, among others, products for sample preparation, reagents, solvents, standards and reference materials.

Our test strips and kits, photometers and turbidimeters are dedicated to water and disinfection analysis and help you accurately monitor beverage quality in compliance with international regulations. From A for arsenic to Z for zinc, our devices and test kits allow you to analyze virtually any substance.

More than 200 test kits and applications are preprogrammed on our Spectroquant® Prove spectrophotometers, including an ultra-low Spectroquant® iron test kit, starting at 0.0005 mg/l and a new sensitive Manganese kit with a detection level of 0.005 mg/l.

The Prove 600 offers also a unique, pre-programmed super-sensitive photometric method for bromate analysis. - When combined with a 100-mm cell, it allows you to easily and accurately detect very low bromate levels (0.5-20 µg/L BrO3- for evaporated samples, and 2.5-100 µg/L BrO3 without evaporation) - without high investments.

In addition, our spectrophotometer allow kit free measurement of colour, such as Hazen and Pt/Co as well as own methods and spectra. The instrument supported AQA concept ensures that your results are reliable and conform with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) guidelines.

Mobile, battery-operating colorimeters and reflectometers allow fast process control for e.g. ozone, chlorine dioxide, peroxide and peracetic acid.

The trend towards healthy eating and drinking means that more people are buying bottled water. We're mostly made of water. Water is life-giving and vital.

In the UK we now buy more than 2 billion litres a year. As we consume more water many people naturally want to know that the water they drink is free from unwanted additives; they want to identify the source of the water; and more and more Britons want to avoid unnecessary ‘food miles’.
